In April-May edition, Bilgi Cagi takes the issue of ‘IT usage research’ which is being implemented under ‘ICT for Future Project’ of Turkish Informatics Industry Association (TUBISAD). According to the news, ICT usage of SMEs seems to be a concerning issue. The research reveals that, SMEs in Turkey put innovation to the last row among the most important tools for their companies. Also research results show that one of every three SMEs has no information about how to use the technology and only one of every four SMEs has a web site.
Faruk Eczacıbaşı, chairman of the Turkish Informatics Foundation, states that green ICT is full of deadlocks; even if ICT turns into green, the electricity consumption is growing. Eczacıbaşı continues his article by stating that problems and also their solutions for global warming are based on ICT. He concludes that ICT sector which uses innovation as the fastest and most effective way is the most suitable sector to find beneficial solutions for communication and environment.
In the file section of Bilgi Cagi, ICT institutions which have environmental awareness and their green products take their place. Lenovo was chosen the second greenest electronics manufacturer according to the Green Electronics Guide of Greenpeace. Siemens received Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Gold Certification with its green building which was built in Gebze. HP helps to reduce customers’ greenhouse gas emissions with eco solutions.
Bülent Erbaş, Koc System Technology and Innovation Director, states that Koc System R&D and Innovation Center continues its work which makes difference. Erbaş defines their most important criteria for selection of projects carried out in Koc System R&D and Innovation Center as to make out competitive products with international standards. —
Murat Gökçe, Turkey Manager of Kaspersky, points to another issue which is the ICT gangs. He states that ICT gangs are in everywhere and they don’t cause only material damage but also shaking our personal prestige. Gökçe adds that Turkey has started to take late measures against cyber crime.
