European Union supports the development of innovative energy projects carried out by a consortium of European partners and specifically supporting the inclusion of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). With the EU funded FIRE project TAGES is working towards this aim and encourages, guides, and assists the Turkish SMEs working in renewable energy sector in participating in the European energy research projects. TAGES organized a workshop in BUMED, Istanbul on the 30th of May to bring together the FIRE SMEs, introduce the EU 7th Framework Programme, inform on the opportunities of energy funding in FP7 and open calls for energy projects. In the workshop TAGES the success stories of previously funded energy projects were presented and the SMEs had been trained on the project participation processes.

 The leaders of the ICT sector met in İstanbul on the 25th of April 2008 in order to evaluate the participation of the Turkish ICT sector in the EU R&D programmes and discuss the successes and the failures of the Turkish ICT sector in 6th and 7th Framework Programme Projects. EU R&D Programmes and Turkish ICT sector status evaluation meeting was organized by TAGES and Turkish Informatics Foundation with the support of Communication and Information Technologies Application and Research Center-İzmir. |

 Day by day we are feeling the damaging impacts of the climate change harder. However, as the climatologists agree, it is the human activity that is responsible for most of the warming by increasing the greenhouse effect because of the burning of fossil fuels. May edition of Bilgi Çağı magazine takes up the issue with the researchers, NGO and industry representatives, discusses the solutions to prevent the climate change and questions the role of R&D and innovation in the cautions taken against the global climate change.

Greening Energy with EU Funds ... 05-05-2008 |

 Europe aims to establish new technologies for a more sustainable, efficient, secure and competitive energy systems. To this end the European Union supports new and innovative energy projects with a clear vision of using diverse mix of resources especially renewables. The European Commission opened a project call under the EU 7th Framework Programme Energy Theme in order fund successful projects in the required topics and foresees 147 million euro budget for the projects. However, there are some rules and criteria to submit a proposal to the European Commission. TAGES will provide training to the renewable energy SMEs supported under the EU funded FIRE project on the participation of the EU funded projects on the 30th of May 2008 in İstanbul.
