On April 16, 2025, the second Trust4Future workshop brought together a dynamic line-up of speakers and participants to explore the foundations and future of blockchain, cryptography, and digital identity. As part of the Trust4Future project, this session aimed to deepen understanding of the trust layer essential to tomorrow’s digital ecosystems.

The day opened with a foundational talk by Prof. Bill Buchanan OBE, covering core concepts and recent developments in blockchain technology. His engaging and accessible approach set the tone for a day of insightful exchanges.


Expert Talks

Srijan R. Shetty (CTO, Fuze Finance)

Moderated by Ayşegül Şensoy, Chairwoman of Istanbul Blockchain Women Association

In this conversation, Srijan reflected on his journey from global tech leaders like Goldman Sachs, Microsoft Research, and Mozilla, to co-founding Fuze. Key questions explored:

  • What motivates builders in today’s evolving Web3 landscape?

  • How will cybersecurity and blockchain converge in the near future?

  • What persistent challenges remain in Web3 infrastructure, and where is the developer community underestimating complexity?

Dr. Öznur Mut Sağdıçoğlu (Chief Cryptography Researcher, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM)

Moderated by Leyla Arsan, CEO of TAGES

This session offered a deep dive into cryptographic innovation in the age of decentralization. Dr. Sağdıçoğlu shared her career path into advanced cryptography, and discussed:

  • Research projects shaping the next generation of decentralized systems

  • How decentralized identifiers (DIDs) may transform identity management

  • The balance between user privacy and system security in Web3


The Future of Digital Trust

Moderated by Prof. Bill Buchanan OBE FRSE

This forward-looking discussion featured:

  • Dr. Maciej Zurawski, CEO of Redeem Technologies, speaking on the evolution of decentralized finance (DeFi)

  • Greg McLardie, CEO and Co-founder of Two Hands, showcasing the usage of blockchain in the food supply chain, from ocean to table

Together, they explored real-world use cases, ethical data usage, and the policy frameworks needed to support digital trust.

Special Session: World Leaders in Cryptography

The day concluded with insights from Prof. Aggelos Kiayias (Chair in Cyber Security & Privacy, The University of Edinburgh), who shared his vision on the future of secure, privacy-preserving systems and academic leadership in cryptographic innovation.

 

These conversations continue to shape the blueprint for a transparent, secure, and human-centered digital future. We're grateful to all speakers, moderators, and participants for driving forward the dialogue on trust, identity, and innovation.
